Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
After landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, you'll be given a warm welcome by your guide. The scent of Africa hangs in the air as you're driven to your accommodation in Arusha In the evening, you'll receive a detailed briefing on the safari ahead.
Day 2: Safari in Arusha National Park
Just 40 minutes from Arusha lies this often underrated national park at the foot of Mount Meru. Explore the montane rainforest, home to blue monkeys and the distinctive black-and-white colobus monkeys.
Visit Ngurdoto Crater – often called "little Ngorongoro" – and the picturesque Momela Lakes, where flamingos, buffalo, giraffes, zebras and waterbuck gather. The rich birdlife, with over 400 species, makes this park a paradise for nature lovers.
Day 3: Safari in Tarangire National Park
Welcome to the land of giants! After a three-hour drive, you'll reach Tarangire National Park famous for its huge elephant herds and the majestic, ancient baobab trees that dominate the landscape.
On your full-day game drive along the Tarangire River, you'll look out for lions, leopards, tree-climbing pythons and the varied wildlife this park is known for. The river is the park's lifeline and draws countless animals, especially during the dry season.
Day 4: Drive to the Central Serengeti
The drive itself is an experience in its own right – you'll pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and enjoy spectacular views of the Rift Valley and the crater. In the afternoon, you'll reach the heart of the Serengeti: the Seronera region.
The Central Serengeti is regarded as Africa's "big cat capital" and promises spectacular wildlife viewing year-round. Enjoy your first game drive in the Serengeti and watch a breathtaking sunset over the endless savannah. This is where the adventure of the Great Migration begins!
Day 5: From the Central Serengeti to Kogatende (North)
Today you'll follow the Great Migration northwards. The destination: the famous Mara River in the northern Serengeti. From July to October, this is where the dramatic river crossings take place – one of the most spectacular natural events in the world.
The drive through the Serengeti's different regions is a game drive in its own right. Watch vast herds of wildebeest and zebras moving slowly northwards, while predators such as lions, leopards and cheetahs are never far away.
Day 6: Full-day safari in the Northern Serengeti
Today you'll devote yourself entirely to the Great Migration. With over 1.5 million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles moving across the landscape, you'll witness an unforgettable spectacle.
From June to September, you have the best chance of witnessing the famous Mara River crossings – when thousands of animals cross the crocodile-filled river. The calving season takes place from January to March in the southern Serengeti, where up to 8,000 wildebeest calves are born daily.
Day 7: Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Crater Rim
After a final morning game drive in the Serengeti, you'll travel to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Experience a magical sunrise over the savanna before you set off.
Your route takes you through changing landscapes – from the golden grasslands of the Serengeti to the green hills of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arrived at the crater rim, you'll have a front-row seat with a view that's almost too beautiful to be true. Look down into the vast caldera – the „eighth wonder of the world“ awaits you the next morning!
Day 8: Safari in the Ngorongoro Crater
Early in the morning, you descend into the Ngorongoro Crater begins – a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most spectacular ecosystems on Earth. The caldera is 610 meters deep and is home to around 25,000 large mammals in just 260 square kilometers.
Africa's highest predator density lives here. Within minutes, you will see wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, elephants, and if you're lucky, the rare black rhinoceros. After 6-7 hours of intensive wildlife viewing, you will leave this natural paradise. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to visit an authentic Maasai village and learn more about their fascinating culture.
Day 9: Lake Manyara National Park and return to Arusha
I am Lake Manyara National Park Expect a compact wildlife paradise at the foot of the Rift Valley escarpment. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions and the huge flocks of flamingos that paint the alkaline lake pink.
On your game drive, you will also discover hot springs and an impressive bird diversity with over 400 species. After a visit to a traditional Maasai boma, where you will learn about the culture and traditions of this proud people, you will drive back to Arusha.
