Is 15 days enough for safari and Zanzibar?

Absolutely. This is the ideal duration for travel. We generally recommend about 7-9 days for the safari and 5-6 days for Zanzibar, to enjoy both parts stress-free.

Is vaccination mandatory for Zanzibar?

Usually not on direct entry from Europe. When entering from mainland Tanzania (safari), Zanzibar is sometimes considered semi-autonomous; yellow fever is controlled but officially often only required for transit >12 hours in risk areas. Please consult a tropical medicine specialist for current regulations.

How strenuous is the Kilimanjaro tour?

Very strenuous. You walk 6-7 days, several hours daily, at high altitude. Good basic fitness and willpower are a must. It's not a walk in the park.

Can the tours be customized?

Yes, as we do it privately. If you want, for example, 10 days of safari and only 3 days of beach (or vice versa), we will customize the itinerary and accommodations individually.

Is there WiFi in the safari jeeps?

Often yes, but the connection in the bush is unreliable. It's better to use the time for a „digital detox.“ Wi-Fi is usually available on Zanzibar and at the lodges.

Do I need cash on safari?

US dollars (new bills from 2009) or Tanzanian shillings are useful for tips and souvenirs. Lodges often accept credit cards, but power/network outages can occur.

What happens when it rains?

Safaris also take place in the rain (animals are still there, often with dramatic skies). The vehicles have roofs that can be closed. In Zanzibar, rainy days are usually warm; tropical showers are often short and heavy.

Are the tours suitable for children?

All of our tours are very family-friendly. We adjust driving times and select lodges with pools. The Kilimanjaro tour is only permitted/recommended for certain ages/fitness levels.

How much luggage can I take?

On international flights, usually 23 kg+. Important: Domestic flights (Fly-in): (e.g. to Zanzibar or Serengeti) often only allow 15-20 kg in soft bags. Hard-shell suitcases often cannot be transported in small aircraft.

When is the best time to book?

For travel during peak season (July-October & Christmas), ideally 6-12 months in advance, as popular lodges and domestic flights are limited.
