On an unforgettable 6-day safari in Tanzania, experience one of the world's most spectacular natural events: the calving season of the Great Migration! This exclusive luxury safari takes you to the Ndutu region in the Southern Serengeti, where over 1,000 wildebeest calves are born every day between December and March.
On this trip you'll discover the highlights of the Northern Safari Circuit: Tarangire National Park with its majestic elephant herds, the endless plains of the Serengeti and the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater. Travelling in a comfortable 4×4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof, you'll come face to face with the Big Five: lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo and perhaps even the rare black rhino.
The calving season is a truly unique experience: as the 1.5 million wildebeest give birth to their young, lions, cheetahs, hyenas and wild dogs lie in wait nearby. Yet the synchronised birthing is an ingenious survival strategy – there are simply too many calves for the predators to take!

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Welcome to Tanzania! On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you'll be met and transferred to Arusha Tanzania's safari capital is the perfect starting point for your 6-day safari in Tanzania.
Use the rest of the day to relax and settle in. In the evening you'll receive a detailed briefing on the safari ahead. Your guide will explain what's in store over the coming days and answer any questions you have. The excitement is building! Get a good night's rest, because tomorrow your unforgettable journey into the African wilderness begins.
Day 2: Arusha and Tarangire National Park
Your safari adventure begins at 8:00 a.m.! The drive takes you to Tarangire National Park, a truly special place with nine different vegetation zones. This park is the land of giants!
Tarangire is famous for its ancient baobab trees – the largest trees on the continent – which dominate the landscape and make the animals beside them look tiny. This is home to the largest concentration of elephants anywhere in Tanzania. The Tarangire River, which gives the park its name, also draws lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, buffalo and antelope. With over 500 bird species, the park is a paradise for birdwatchers too. In the afternoon you'll enjoy your first extended game drive – an unforgettable start to your 6-day safari in Tanzania!
Day 3: Tarangire and the Ndutu Area (Southern Serengeti)
Today is going to be spectacular! After breakfast, you'll drive to the Ndutu region in the Southern Serengeti – the epicentre of the Great Migration during calving season. The roughly three-hour drive takes you through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The endless plains of the Ndutu region are the stage for one of the greatest natural wonders on Earth. Between December and March, over 1.5 million wildebeest gather here alongside more than 200,000 zebras and gazelles. Over 1,000 wildebeest calves are born every single day – a synchronised spectacle without equal! Your experienced guide knows exactly where the herds are at any given moment. Watch newborn calves struggle to their feet on wobbly legs within minutes of birth – and the predators lying in wait nearby. Nature at its rawest!
Day 4: Ndutu and Serengeti National Park
After a morning game drive in the Ndutu region, you'll continue your journey into the Central Serengeti. The Serengeti National Park covers 14,763 square kilometres and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981.
Welcome to the pulse of the wild! The name "Serengeti" comes from the Maasai language and means "endless plain" – and today you'll understand exactly why. This park is home to an estimated three million large animals and is world-famous for its remarkable predator population: over 4,000 lions, 1,000 leopards and 3,500 hyenas. The Seronera region is regarded as Africa's "big cat capital"! On extended game drives through classic savannah landscapes dotted with iconic acacias, you'll see the Serengeti in all its glory. A day that will make your 6-day safari in Tanzania truly unforgettable!
Day 5: Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater Rim
A day of contrasts! We recommend a very early start for a morning game drive, when the animals are at their most active. Watch one of the most beautiful sunrises of your life break over the endless savannah – the golden morning light over the Serengeti is a truly magical moment.
After the game drive and a hearty brunch, you'll continue on to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The Ngorongoro Crater begins is the largest intact, unflooded volcanic caldera in the world, formed around 2.5 million years ago. It spans 102 square miles and is enclosed by walls 600 metres high. The "Eighth Wonder of the Natural World" awaits you! You'll reach the crater rim just in time for sunset.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater and Arusha
The crowning finale of your 6-day safari in Tanzania! After breakfast, you'll descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for an unforgettable game drive. The cool morning air is perfect for spotting wildlife at its most active.
An area of around 260 square kilometres is home to some 25,000 large mammals – and the highest predator density in Africa. Here you have excellent chances of spotting all of the Big Five in a single day, including the rare black rhino. The crater has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. Visit the famous Hippo Pool and enjoy a picnic by the lake with spectacular views. After your final game drive, you'll leave this natural paradise behind and drive back to Arusha. With a heart full of memories, your safari comes to an end!
