Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
After landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport, you'll be given a warm welcome. The scent of Africa hangs in the air as you're driven to your accommodation in Arusha. Use the time to relax and get in the mood for the adventure ahead.
Day 2: Safari in Tarangire National Park
Your safari adventure begins at 8:00 a.m.! A three-hour drive takes you to Tarangire National Park – the land of giants. This park is famous for its huge elephant herds and the majestic, ancient baobab trees that define the landscape.
On a full-day game drive, you'll look out for lions, leopards, the fascinating tree-climbing pythons and the rich birdlife this park is known for. The Tarangire River draws countless animals, especially during the dry season – a paradise for wildlife viewing! With this much scenic and wildlife variety, you won't know where to look first.
Day 3: Tarangire to the Central Serengeti (Seronera)
Today your journey takes you into the world-famous Serengeti! The drive itself is an experience in its own right – you'll pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and enjoy breathtaking views of the Great Rift Valley and the crater.
The name Serengeti comes from the Maasai language and means "endless plain." The Central Serengeti around Seronera is regarded as Africa's "big cat capital" and offers spectacular wildlife viewing year-round. In the afternoon you'll reach your camp and enjoy an unforgettable game drive at sunset – when the golden plains glow in the evening light and the predators come out to hunt.
Day 4: From Central Serengeti to Northern Serengeti (Kogatende)
After breakfast, you'll set off for the Northern Serengeti – the epicentre of the Great Migration. Here, on the banks of the Mara River, one of the most dramatic natural spectacles on Earth unfolds.
From July to October, millions of wildebeest and zebras cross the crocodile-infested river – a breathtaking display of courage, instinct and sheer will to survive. Even outside the peak season, the Kogatende region offers spectacular wildlife viewing. The best time for the river crossings is August to September.
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater Rim
Getting up early pays off! At 5:45 a.m., you'll witness one of the most beautiful sunrises of your life over the Serengeti. After a morning game drive, where you'll have the chance to see the Big Five, you'll travel to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.
The animals here live freely in an open, unfenced reserve – pure, authentic wilderness! Once at the crater rim, you'll have a front-row seat with a view that's almost too good to be true. Look down into the vast caldera – a lost paradise regarded as the Eighth Wonder of the World. Enjoy the sunset and the anticipation of tomorrow's safari highlight.
Day 6: Safari in the Ngorongoro Crater
Today the descent into the Ngorongoro-Krater – – the crowning highlight of any 7-day safari in Tanzania! This one-of-a-kind adventure begins as early as 5:30 a.m. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is 610 metres deep, covers roughly 260 square kilometres and is home to around 25,000 large mammals.
This unique ecosystem has the highest predator density in Africa. Within just a few minutes you'll see wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, elephants and over 500 bird species. With a little luck, you may also glimpse the critically endangered black rhino. After 6–7 hours of game driving in the crater, you'll visit the village of Mto wa Mbu and experience the local culture up close.
Day 7: Lake Manyara and Return to Arusha
The final safari day of your 7-day trip to Tanzania takes you to Lake Manyara National Park – a hidden gem at the foot of the Rift Valley escarpment. This compact park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, which lounge lazily in the branches of the acacia trees.
At the alkaline lake, you'll watch thousands of pink flamingos and visit the hot springs in the south of the park. One more special experience awaits: a visit to a traditional Maasai boma, where you'll get to know the fascinating culture and traditions of these proud pastoral people. In the afternoon, you'll drive back to Arusha.
