Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
After landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport, you'll be given a warm welcome by your guide. The scent of Africa hangs in the air as you're driven to Tanzania's safari capital.
Arusha is the gateway to the legendary Northern Circuit and the perfect starting point for your 7-day safari in Tanzania. Use the rest of the day to relax and get in the mood for the adventure ahead. In the evening, you'll receive a detailed briefing on your safari route.
Day 2: Safari in Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, your safari begins! A drive of roughly 2.5 to 3 hours takes you to Tarangire National Park the land of giants. This park is famous for its huge elephant herds and the majestic, ancient baobab trees that dominate the landscape.
At the Tarangire River, the park's lifeline, countless animals gather during the dry season. On your afternoon game drive in a 4×4 vehicle, you'll look out for elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions and the park's rich birdlife. The iconic baobabs against the African sky make for spectacular photo opportunities.
Day 3: Tarangire to the Serengeti
Today your journey takes you into the world-famous Serengeti – a name that comes from the Maasai language and means "endless plain." The 5- to 6-hour drive is an experience in its own right: you'll cross the Ngorongoro Highlands, where the Iraqw grow wheat, coffee and maize, and catch your first glimpses of the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater begins.
On arrival in the Serengeti, an afternoon game drive across the vast savannahs awaits. Keep an eye out for lions, cheetahs and the great wildebeest herds. The Serengeti has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981 and is home to over 4,000 lions and 1,000 leopards – a true paradise for safari lovers!
Day 4: Full-Day Safari in the Serengeti
A whole day in the heart of the wild! Today you'll explore the Serengeti in all its glory. Depending on the season, you'll witness parts of the legendary Great Migration, in which over 1.5 million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebras move across the plains.
Watch the dynamic interactions between predators and their prey – lions, leopards and cheetahs are never far from the migrating herds. The Serengeti offers spectacular wildlife viewing year-round: from November to December the animals move south, and from April to June they head back north.
Day 5: From the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Crater
After a morning game drive in the Serengeti, where you may yet spot the Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino – you'll travel to the Ngorongoro Crater. The 3- to 4-hour drive takes you to one of the most spectacular places on Earth.
The descent into the crater is breathtaking! The largest intact volcanic caldera in the world, it is 610 metres deep and home to around 25,000 large mammals – the highest wildlife density of any park in Tanzania. On the crater floor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you have excellent chances of spotting all of the Big Five in a single day, including the rare black rhino.
Day 6: Lake Manyara Nationalpark
After breakfast, a short drive of 1.5 to 2 hours takes you to Lake Manyara National ParkThis compact park surprises with its variety: dense groundwater forest, open grass savannah and the glittering lake, which covers up to two-thirds of the park's area.
Lake Manyara is world-famous for its tree-climbing lions – a rare phenomenon seen in only a handful of places in Africa! The park is also home to spectacular birdlife, with over 400 species, including thousands of pink flamingos that turn the lake into a sea of colour. Watch baboons, hippos and elephants against the dramatic backdrop of the East African Rift Valley.
Day 7: Return to Arusha and departure
The final day of your 7-day safari in Tanzania has arrived. After breakfast, you'll drive back to Arusha a relaxed 2- to 2.5-hour journey, giving you time to let the impressions of the past few days pass before you once more.
In Arusha, there's time for a farewell lunch before your transfer takes you to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) in good time. With a heart full of memories – majestic elephants, lions on the hunt and the endless expanses of the Serengeti – you'll set off for home. Not quite ready to leave?
