Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport
Karibu Tanzania! After landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you'll be given a warm welcome by your safari guide. In the evening, you'll receive a detailed safari briefing in which your guide prepares you for the adventure ahead. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore Arusha or simply relax. Your 6-day safari in Tanzania to the Great Migration is ready to begin!
Day 2: Safari in Tarangire National Park
Early in the morning, your adventure begins! After a drive of 2.5 to 3 hours, you'll reach Tarangire National Park the land of giants. This park is famous for its huge elephant herds and the majestic, ancient baobab trees that dominate the landscape.
On extended game drives along the Tarangire River, the park's lifeline, you'll look out for lions, leopards, giraffes and a rich variety of birdlife. During the dry season in particular, countless animals gather at the water – a spectacular sight! With this much scenic and wildlife variety, you won't know where to look first.
Day 3: Drive into the Serengeti's Western Corridor
The drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is an experience in itself – enjoy your first views of the majestic crater before entering the Serengeti via the Naabi Hill Gate.
Welcome to the Western Corridor – the stage for one of the most dramatic natural events on Earth! This narrow region between Seronera and the park boundary is rich in grazing grounds and draws millions of wildebeest and zebras in late spring. In the afternoon you'll already explore the first migration hotspots and feel the pulse of the wild. The anticipation is building – tomorrow, the Grumeti River awaits!
Day 4: Full-day safari at the Grumeti River
The highlight of your 6-day safari in Tanzania! Today you'll spend the entire day in the heart of the Western Corridor, following the migration along the Grumeti River and through the Kirawira region.
Witness one of Africa's most intense natural spectacles: the river crossings at the Grumeti are far less crowded than the famous Mara crossings, but every bit as dramatic! Watch as thousands of wildebeest summon the courage to cross the crocodile-filled river. Predators such as lions, leopards and hyenas lie in wait all around – every successful crossing is a powerful testament to survival. A picnic lunch out in the bush rounds off this unforgettable day.
Day 5: Serengeti – Safari in the Ngorongoro Crater
A day of contrasts! After an early morning game drive in the Serengeti, you'll travel to the Ngorongoro Crater begins (4–5 hours). This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the largest intact volcanic caldera in the world and is regarded as the "Eighth Wonder of the World."
It's like stepping into Noah's Ark! The descent into the crater reveals a self-contained ecosystem with around 25,000 large mammals – the highest predator density in Africa. Here you have excellent chances of spotting all of the Big Five in a single day, including the rare black rhino. A picnic at the Hippo Pool overlooking bathing hippos crowns this spectacular day of your 6-day safari in Tanzania.
Day 6: Return to Arusha – Departure
The final day of your 6-day safari in Tanzania has arrived. After breakfast, you'll drive from Karatu back to Arusha (2–3 hours). Along the way you'll have the chance to visit a Maasai village or pick up souvenirs at the Shanga Foundation – an authentic insight into Tanzanian culture.
