Ang’ata Ngorongoro Camp
Eight tents at 2,310 metres on the crater rim
At 2,310 metres, on the eastern side of the crater rim and just inside the park boundaries, stands Ang’ata Ngorongoro Camp, its operator’s smallest camp. It has eight guest tents, one of them a family unit made up of two tents, and each has its own bathroom with shower, flush toilet and washbasin. There’s also a lounge tent and a dining tent. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are freshly prepared every day, and in the lounge Tanzanian coffee or tea comes free of charge. The advantage of the location: you drive down into Ngorongoro Crater early and then have it almost to yourself. If you want more, you can hike along the crater rim with an armed ranger, visit a Maasai village or make a day trip to Empakaai Crater. And in the evening, “Bush TV” is on, which is what they call the campfire here, though only if the weather plays along.
