Baobab Tented Camp
Tented camp in Tarangire, with no fence at all
Being out with the animals in the morning before the day visitors arrive: that works if you sleep in the park itself. Baobab Tented Camp stands in a remote part of Tarangire National Park, on the wildlife corridor between the park and Lake Burunge. There are ten tents, each with its own bathroom, flush toilet and hot shower, and all of them look out over the plain. In your tent you’ll find charging points and a safe, and Wi-Fi is available in the communal areas. The family tent has room for up to five adults. In the morning there’s a buffet, with hot dishes added on request, and in the evening meals are served at the table, with a choice of dishes. Game drives in four-wheel-drive vehicles with the camp’s own guides are unlimited, and unlike most parks in the north, Tarangire also allows night game drives. On foot, you head out with an armed, licensed ranger and a guide. Good to know: the camp has no fence, and after dark a member of the team walks you to your tent. So there’s no need to memorise the way back.
