COUNTRY LODGE, pool and garden

Country Lodge Karatu

Garden cottages on the edge of Karatu

  • Mid-Range

On the edge of Karatu, halfway between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, lies Country Lodge Karatu. Garden paths lead between lawns, bougainvillea and tropical trees to the cottages. The bathrooms are built from local natural stone, in front of the rooms there’s a veranda with a table and chairs, and inside a desk for your travel journal. And because Karatu lies in the highlands, nights can get cool. Then simply have the fireplace lit and come back from dinner to a warm room. Incidentally, the lodge grows a good share of its ingredients itself. During the day the pool beckons, or you can head out for a day to Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara National Park or Lake Eyasi, or visit a coffee plantation or a village nearby. Fittingly, the lodge belongs to the Bougainvillea group.
