Crater Rim View Inn

From Crater Rim View Inn in Karatu it takes about 20 minutes to drive to the gate of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Arusha is around two hours away. The 14 rooms for one to three people are set in a garden, each with its own bathroom, hot shower, mosquito net, TV and a seat on the veranda. At lunch and dinner a buffet with soup, salads, rice, potatoes, vegetables, beef and chicken is laid out, and afterwards there is always a dessert. Always. Coffee and tea are self-service all day long, and for safari days the kitchen prepares packed lunches. On a free day you can visit a coffee plantation, hike through the Ngorongoro forest to a waterfall or browse Karatu market for Kanga and Kitenge, as the colourful fabrics are called. Families with children, by the way, are expressly welcome.
