Kena Beach Hotel

Right on the white sandy beach of Matemwe, Kena Beach Hotel sits in a tropical garden, looking across the Indian Ocean to Mnemba Atoll. The roofs are traditionally thatched with makuti, in other words palm fronds. The Bridge Restaurant serves international and African dishes à la carte, plus a different themed buffet every evening, sometimes Asian, sometimes Mediterranean, sometimes Swahili, sometimes Italian. Drinks are served in the Mambo Bar, the Mnemba Bar and at the pool bar of the freshly renovated pool, and relaxation awaits in the Maua Spa. The on-site dive centre heads out to Mnemba Atoll for diving and snorkelling, and at low tide, with someone to accompany you, you simply walk out to the coral reef and take a look at the starfish. Since 2018 the hotel has been run by a Tanzanian family.
