Migombani Camp

Up on a plateau of the escarpment, just outside Mto wa Mbu, lies the family-run Migombani Camp. From here it is only a five-minute drive to the entrance of Lake Manyara National Park. You can simply pitch your own tent on the lawn, or move into one of the furnished safari tents with comfortable beds and fresh linen. On top of that there are hot showers, a large kitchen that guests are free to use, an infinity pool overlooking the lake and a restaurant with a bar for snacks and simple meals. You can go hiking with an English-speaking guide from the village, and the programme also includes mountain-bike tours, the treetop walkway and game drives in the park, early in the morning or even at night. Right in the middle of the campsite, by the way, stands a huge baobab with a swing, which the children will love (and the parents probably do too, secretly).
