Serengeti Simba Lodge
Lodge around a kopje near the Ikoma Gate
You can leave your hairdryer at home. The rooms at Serengeti Simba Lodge run on solar power, and that isn’t enough for a hairdryer. The lodge lies in the Ikoma Wildlife Management Area, just outside the national park and a 20-minute drive from the Ikoma Gate. The lodge has 15 round houses with canvas walls and thatched roofs, the bathroom has a concrete tub, and the shower is outdoors. The communal areas are built around a kopje, one of the granite hills typical of the Serengeti, and from the infinity pool you look far out over the plain. Besides game drives, night drives are possible, and twice a year, roughly in June and July and then in October, the herds of the Great Migration pass by.
