Tanzania Bush Camps - North Mara Kogatende, migration camp on the plains

Mara River Camp (Tanzania Bush Camps)

Seasonal camp on the Mara River near Kogatende

  • Mid-Range

From July to October the Mara River Camp stands in the Kogatende area of the northern Serengeti, within easy reach of the Mara River. It is run by Tanzania Bush Camps, and the twelve tents have large single or double beds and a private bathroom with flush toilet and a hot shower with running water. Power comes from a 240-volt solar system with a generator as back-up, meals are served in the large dining tent, and in the evening the campfire burns outside. For long days of game viewing the kitchen packs a picnic, and on request breakfast, lunch or dinner can be served in the bush. If you want to head out on foot, you’ll need patience (and to sign up): walking from the camp is not permitted in the national park, but with advance notice the team will arrange a walk with an armed ranger and your guide. Also on offer are a balloon flight at dawn and excursions to villages and to a boma, a Maasai homestead.
