ThornTree Camp

There’s no fence, so the neighbours here drop in unannounced. ThornTree Camp lies in the Seronera area of Serengeti National Park, 15 to 20 minutes’ drive from the Seronera airstrip, and with a bit of luck you’ll see elephants, lions and leopards while looking out over Banagi Hill. The 15 tents have queen-size or single beds with mosquito nets, a private flushing toilet, charging points and drinking water, and for families there is also a suite with two bedrooms. Hot water and electricity come from the solar system, the cooking uses the best ingredients available, and next door is the lounge tent with bar. The evening’s meeting point, though, is the campfire. Game drives, balloon flights and birdwatching can be added, some at extra cost, and there are private meals in the bush too.
