Ycona Luxury Resort

Around 500 metres of beach belong to Ycona Luxury Resort, a private bay in the north of Marumbi on Zanzibar’s east coast. Behind it, things turn green: hundreds of species of trees, fruits, herbs and flowers grow on the grounds, and you can jog or cycle along a jungle trail. The 40 villas are divided into 14 beach villas, 21 jungle suites and five family villas, some of them with their own plunge pool. With four restaurants and three bars, the question in the evening is where, not whether. The cooking relies mostly on ingredients from farms in the region, and the wine has an underground cellar of its own. There’s also a wellness area with a spa, a gym and a yoga terrace.
