Coffee Tour in Arusha
The volcanic soils around Arusha are among Tanzania's long-standing growing areas for Arabica coffee.
Coffee Tour in Arusha at a glance
Arabica coffee grows on the volcanic soils around Arusha, and many plantations show visitors the bean's journey: from the bush through harvesting and processing to the cup. Brewed fresh on the spot, the coffee is called kahawa in Swahili. The visit takes about half a day. Good to know: you will only see the harvest itself during harvest season; in the other months, the farmers explain the steps using the plants. It is fascinating all the same, and the coffee afterwards even more so.
