Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
After landing at Arusha Airport, you'll be given a warm welcome. Use the rest of the day to relax and settle in. In the evening, you'll receive a detailed briefing to prepare you for the safari adventures ahead.
Day 2: Safari in Tarangire National Park
Today you're heading into the land of giants! At 8:00 a.m., the roughly three-hour drive to Tarangire Nationalpark. begins. Covering 2,800 km², this park is famous for its huge elephant herds – the largest concentration in all of Tanzania!
The park takes its name from the Tarangire River, where countless animals gather, especially during the dry season. On your full-day game drive, you'll look for elephants, lions, leopards and pythons among the majestic baobab trees. These ancient giants define the landscape and create a one-of-a-kind backdrop for your first safari experiences.
Day 3: Drive to the Serengeti
Today your journey takes you into the world-famous Serengeti! The drive itself is an experience in its own right – you'll pass through the fertile highlands of the Iraqw and cross the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with a first breathtaking view of the crater.
Welcome to the pulse of the wild! The Central Serengeti is among the finest wildlife destinations in northern Tanzania. The park is famous for its big cat sightings – there's no better place to watch lions, leopards and cheetahs in their natural habitat. The landscape is defined by iconic acacia trees and endless horizons stretching across the Serengeti plains.
Day 4: Full-Day Safari in the Serengeti
The Serengeti – a name that comes from the Maasai language and means "endless plain" – is home to an incredible variety of species: impalas, buffalo, crocodiles and hippos all roam the savannah.
The absolute highlight is the annual Great Migration, in which millions of wildebeest and zebras move across the plains. Depending on the season, the herds head into the southern grass plains from November to December and return north from April to June. Alongside the migrating herds, you'll have the chance to watch predators such as leopards, cheetahs and lions, which are never far away.
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater Rim
After breakfast, another exciting game drive in the Serengeti awaits. Along the way, you'll have the chance to spot the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. The animals roam freely across open, unfenced reserves – an authentic and unfiltered wilderness experience!
In the afternoon, you'll travel to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Your accommodation offers a front-row seat with a view that's almost too good to be true. From up here, look down into the vast caldera – glittering streams, wide grasslands and incredible wildlife await you.
Day 6: Safari in the Ngorongoro Crater – Return to Arusha
The breathtaking views at sunrise over the crater rim reward every early riser! Today the descent into the Ngorongoro Crater begins a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa. At 610 metres deep and covering roughly 260 square kilometres, the crater is home to around 25,000 large mammals – the best wildlife viewing of any park in Tanzania! Within just a few minutes you'll see wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, elephants and over 500 bird species. With a little luck, you'll glimpse the endangered black rhino in the tall grass. After this unforgettable experience, you'll drive back to Arusha.
Day 7: Flight to Zanzibar – Stone Town
After breakfast, you'll be taken to Arusha Airport for your flight to Zanzibar. The salty sea breeze of the Indian Ocean greets you on arrival at the spice island. Stone Town is a fascinating place – this UNESCO World Heritage Site was once the centre of a trading network that stretched across the Indian Ocean to Persia and India. The distinctive architecture of the multi-storey coral stone houses and the cosmopolitan flair of Swahili culture will enchant you.
Day 8: Beach day at Nungwi Beach
Today is given over entirely to relaxing on one of Zanzibar's most beautiful beaches. Nungwi, at the island's northern tip, is famous for its white sand and crystal-clear turquoise water. Nungwi is the perfect place to watch spectacular sunsets. Historically, it was an important centre for building traditional dhow sailing boats. Visit the turtle conservation project and learn more about marine protection. In the afternoon, a snorkelling adventure awaits – discover the colourful underwater world and its extraordinary marine life.
Day 9: Exploring Stone Town
Experience the whispering history of Zanzibar! At 7:30 a.m., you'll be picked up for a fascinating tour of Stone Town. Immerse yourself in the distinctive atmosphere of this history-steeped city.
The Old Fort, built in the late 17th century to fend off Portuguese attacks, now serves as a cultural centre with art exhibitions and performances. The House of Wonders, a former palace of Sultan Barghash, is now home to a museum about the history of Zanzibar and its people. Lose yourself in the winding alleyways and feel the pulse of this history-steeped city!
Day 10: Prison Island and Nakupenda Beach
By boat, you'll head to Changuu Island, better known as Prison Island. The island is home to a well-preserved quarantine centre from the late 19th century and an open-air sanctuary with giant tortoises originally from the Seychelles. Depending on the tides and the weather, an unforgettable experience follows: swimming and snorkelling at the narrow sandbank of Nakupenda Island – a slice of paradise in the middle of the turquoise sea.
Day 11: Departure from Zanzibar
