Step 1 of 4: Where does your trip start and end?
No time for long drives? Then fly. This route takes you by light aircraft straight into the central Serengeti and squeezes two travel days full of game drives out of a short window. Your guide waits at the airstrip with the 4x4, for your group alone.
If you end the trip in Arusha City, you fly back from Seronera and stay one night. If Zanzibar is your final destination, the return flight goes via Mwanza, and there are two overnight stays. You can start from either place.

The itinerary
Days 1–2
Serengeti National Park
Day 1: Flight into Serengeti National Park
Instead of driving for about seven hours, you take to the air: the light aircraft takes off in the morning, and below you first the city shrinks, then the villages, until there is nothing but plain. Your guide is already waiting at the airstrip near Seronera. The rest of the day belongs to the central Serengeti, where lions and leopards like to stay close to the rivers. Depending on the month, the herds of the Great Migration also pass through this part of the park. You spend the night in the middle of the protected area.
Day 2: Serengeti National Park and return flight
Before the flight back there is time for a long morning game drive, when the light is soft and the cats are still on the move. Then your guide takes you to the airstrip: if you are heading back to Arusha City, your plane leaves directly from Seronera; towards Zanzibar you fly via Mwanza on Lake Victoria, with one more overnight stay in this variant. Either way you have a window seat, and the Serengeti passes beneath you once more.
