Step 1 of 4: Where does your trip start and end?
Three days of nothing but the Serengeti, and not one of them is lost on the road: you fly in and out, and in between come game drives in the central Serengeti and two nights in the heart of the park.
You can start from Arusha City or Zanzibar. For the end of the trip: from Seronera straight to Arusha City, or via Mwanza to the island, which adds a third overnight stay.

The itinerary
Days 1–3
Serengeti National Park
Day 1: Flight into Serengeti National Park
Your safari day begins above the clouds, or just below them: the light aircraft takes you from Arusha City or Zanzibar straight into the park, and at the airstrip your guide takes over. The very first game drive leads through the savannah around Seronera, where lions live all year round, not to mention gazelles and zebras. By sunset you reach your accommodation in the park.
Day 2: Serengeti National Park
Today it is all about the savannah. You head out on game drives in the morning and the afternoon, with time in between for a picnic in the shade. Where the herds of the Great Migration are at any given time depends on the month; your guide knows which direction is worth the drive. Early risers can also start the day above the plains: with a hot-air balloon flight at sunrise, which can be booked as an extra and is not included in the tour price.
Day 3: Serengeti National Park and return flight
One last morning game drive, then it is time to say goodbye. Your guide drops you at the airstrip: the way to Arusha City starts at Seronera, while the way to Zanzibar goes via Mwanza and adds a third overnight stay. Below you the plains pass by once more, the same plains whose dust was on your shoes only moments ago.
