Step 1 of 4: Where does your trip start and end?
A lot of safari in a little time: the first day takes you to the elephant herds of Tarangire National Park, the second down into the Ngorongoro Crater, home to all of the Big Five. One overnight stay separates the two stages, and every drive is private.
Departure is from Arusha City. If you like, you can add Zanzibar by plane at the start, at the end or at both ends of the trip.

Day 1
Tarangire National Park
Day 1: Tarangire National Park
About two hours' drive after setting off from Arusha City, the gate to Tarangire National Park opens. Inside, the river of the same name sets the rhythm: in the dry season it is the park's lifeline, and the elephants crowd its banks accordingly. Then there are the baobabs, gnarled and stout, and around the swamps lions, leopards and cheetahs hunt. After the game drive you check in to your accommodation and let the evening wind down with a view out over the bush.

Ngorongoro Crater
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater
The second day starts early, because your destination lies high up: only from the crater rim, at more than 2,200 metres, do you see the crater for the first time. The access road winds down, and about 500 metres below lies a plain of around 260 square kilometres, where wildebeest, buffalo, zebras and lions share the grass. All of the Big Five are possible here, black rhino included. After the game drive and a picnic, the 4x4 climbs back up in the afternoon, and you reach Arusha City in the evening.
