Step 1 of 4: Where does your trip start and end?
Two parks in two days, and they could hardly be more different: in Tarangire National Park elephants and baobabs set the scene, at Lake Manyara a forest that grows from groundwater. In between there is one overnight stay, and you travel only with your own travel group.
The starting point is Arusha City. If you are combining the safari with the beach, you fly to Zanzibar before or after; all four combinations of start and end can be requested.

Day 1
Tarangire National Park
Day 1: Tarangire National Park
From Arusha City you reach the park gate in about two hours. Tarangire is elephant country: in the dry season, herds several hundred strong gather by the river, with giraffes and zebras among them. Around the swamps in the south, lions or a leopard may show themselves if you are lucky, and there are even pythons in the trees. After the afternoon game drive you head to your accommodation, where the first safari day draws to a close after dark. An early close, mind you, since it got off to an early start.

Lake Manyara National Park
Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park
In the morning you move on to Lake Manyara National Park, which nestles between the soda lake and the roughly 400-metre wall of the Rift Valley escarpment. Beyond the gate begins a forest that lives on groundwater: baboon families sit by the track, elephants push their way through the greenery. And then there is the house speciality: lions that make themselves comfortable in the branches. The sighting cannot be promised, but sharp eyes help. In the afternoon you set off back to Arusha City, or you fly on to Zanzibar.
