This day trip takes you to Tarangire National Park without an overnight stay: set off from Arusha City in the morning, about two hours' drive, and then the day belongs to the elephants. The vehicle and guide are there for your travel group alone.
There are four options for start and finish: Arusha City there and back, or you link the safari day with Zanzibar by plane, in both directions. The day in the park stays the same in every case.

Day 1: Tarangire National Park
Early in the morning your guide picks you up in Arusha City, and after about two hours on the road the park gate opens. Inside, the game drive follows the Tarangire River, where herds of several hundred elephants gather in the dry season, along with giraffes, zebras and, with a little luck, a lion in the shade of the baobabs. Lunch is a picnic in the park, the afternoon belongs to the animals once more, and by early evening you are back in Arusha City. If you are travelling from or to Zanzibar, short flights cover the rest of the way.
